Participants in court proceedings include parties in the case, attorneys, and witnesses who are deemed qualified to serve the court. Reasonable accommodations to participants in federal court proceedings include sign language interpreters and other appropriate auxiliary aids to all deaf, hearing impaired, or participants having other communications disabilities.  To inquire about services for people who have hearing impairments or other communications disabilities, contact Amanda Kaniowski in the Clerk's office by email or by calling 410-962-4104

Language Interpreters
Except for proceedings initiated by the United States or for those persons with communications disabilities (e.g., hearing impaired), parties are responsible for finding and providing their own interpreter services for bankruptcy proceedings.  Court Interpreting is governed by Vol. 5 of the Judiciary Guide.  The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) maintains a list of certified interpreters that is updated periodically, although there is no requirement that an interpreter provided by any party be federally certified.  To verify the latest version of the AO's list, contact the Clerk's office.  Click here for the AO's list of certified interpreters (updated on 08-12-2022).
