Summons
On December 1, 2005, Federal Rule of Bankruptcy Procedure 7004 was amended to authorize the clerk to sign, seal, and issue a summons electronically. Beginning on January 5, 2006, the Maryland Bankruptcy Court will include an electronic version of the court's seal on the summons. When the court dockets the "Summons Issued" event, you will receive a notice of electronic filing with a link to the summons. You will need to open the link to receive your copy of the summons to serve on all opposing parties. This copy replaces the hard copy summons which the court mailed to you in the past. This applies to both Involuntary Bankruptcy Cases as well as Adversary Proceedings (Complaints). After completion of service, electronically file your pleading by selecting "Affidavit of Summons Served". Please contact the court's Help Desk at 866-630-1146 if you have any questions.
