Notice of Motion/Application

These instructions will demonstrate the steps to file a Notice of Motion in the CM/ECF system. The example demonstrates the electronic filing of a Notice of Motion and allows for the setting of a motion for a hearing and/or an objection due date.

NOTE: Notice of Motion and Motion/Application have been combined in certain events. Check the 'Motion and Notice of Motion Combined' for specific motions.

Hearing date and time for certain motions may be obtained on our website.

1.                                       Click  Bankruptcy on the CM/ECF Blue Menu Bar

2.                                       The Bankruptcy Events screen displays:

• Click 'Notices'

3.                                       The Case Number screen displays:

• Enter the case number in yy-nnnnn format

• Click 'Next' to continue

4.                                       The Available Events List screen displays:

• Scroll down to 'Notice of Motion (sets Obj Deadline)' or 'Notice of Application'or type any part of the event name in the search window.  The search is not case sensitive.

• Select the correct event.  The event will show in the 'Selected Events' window. (If you select the incorrect event, click in the 'Selected Events' window to remove it).

• Click 'Next'

5.                                       The Select the Party screen displays:

• Select the party filer

• Click 'Next'

6.                                       The PDF Document Selection screen displays:

• Click 'Browse', (Refer to Navigating through Directories for complete instructions.)

• Click 'Next' to continue

7.                                       Hearing and Objection information screen displays:

• Insert hearing date, time and location, if applicable

• Enter Objection due date

• Click 'Next'

8.                                       The Service Date screen displays:

• Enter Date of Service

• Click 'Next'

9.                                       Refer to Existing Events screen displays:

• Check the box Refer to existing event(s)

• Click 'Next'

10.                                 The Related Event Category screen displays:

• Select the event for which your notice relates

• Click 'Next'

11.                                 The Original Motion screen displays:

• Check the box at the original motion

• Click 'Next'

12.                                 The Modify Docket Text screen displays:

• Modify Docket Text as appropriate

• Click 'Next'

13.                                 The Final Approval screen displays:Attention!! Submitting this screen commits this transaction. You will no further opportunity to this submission if you continue.

• Verify the Final Docket Text

• Click Next to continue

14.                                 The Notice of Electronic Filing screen displays: (Refer to Notice of Electronic Filing for complete instructions)
