The Debtor Assistance Project ("DAP") is a legal clinic that is a partnership between the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland and various members of the Maryland legal community. This program provides debtors with an opportunity to meet virtually (via ZoomGov), one-on-one, with a volunteer bankruptcy attorney for a free half-hour consultation. The DAP provides legal advice to individuals without an attorney by answering their questions about bankruptcy, including how bankruptcy may be used to help prevent foreclosure. The DAP cannot provide an attorney to complete your paperwork for you or represent you.
Carefully read the following three-step process before proceeding.
STEP 1: You must first complete the online intake form HERE.
STEP 2: Upon completion of the online intake form, you may schedule your ZoomGov appointment via the "Available Appointments" link below or by calling the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service during their intake hours only -- Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at 410-547-6537 or 800-510-0050.
STEP 3: Approximately 48 hours prior to your appointment, the court will send an appointment confirmation email to the email address you used to register for your appointment. Please watch carefully for this email (and check your junk folders as necessary to ensure you don't miss this email). If you do not timely respond to this email, your appointment will be cancelled, and you may not be eligible for another appointment.
