Opening of a New Debtor Assistance Project ("DAP") Location
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland ("USBC"), in conjunction with the Allegany Law Foundation, Inc. ("Allegany Law"), is pleased to announce the expansion of the DAP to the office of Allegany Law in Cumberland, Maryland. The new location is scheduled to open on Friday, January 20, 2012, and will operate on the third Friday of each month thereafter.
The DAP is a pro bono legal clinic focused on providing free pre-scheduled 30-minute consultations (conducted by volunteer attorneys) to individuals who do not have attorneys and need legal advice on bankruptcy matters. The existing DAP locations are in Baltimore, Greenbelt, and Easton. The DAP is the result of a collaborative effort of the USBC, the MD State Bar Association, the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland, Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, the U.S. Trustees for the District of Maryland, Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County, Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, MidShore Pro Bono, Inc., Civil Justice, and the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland. Allegany Law is the newest DAP collaborator.

- Administrative Order 11-06, Order Rescinding Local Bankruptcy Rules 3001-1(b) and 3002-1 is effective December 1, 2011 (Posted on 12/06/2011).
- Administrative Order 11-05, Order Repealing Administrative Order 10-01 negates the need to add the IRS to the mailing matrix of every Chapter 13 case filed in this court. (posted on 11/17/2011).
- Administrative Order 11-03, Amended Order Directing the Electronic Filing of Pleadings by Attorneys and Administrative Order 11-04, Order Amending Local Bankruptcy Rule 7012-1. (posted on 10/27/2011)

Local Bankruptcy Rule 7012-1 Core or Non-Core Matters and Consent was amended with Administrative Order 11-04 to add the requirement for all parties in an adversary proceeding to include in their initial pleading a statement as to whether the party consents to entry of final orders or judgments by the Bankruptcy Judge. The rules have been updated on our web site.
