Closed Cases / Requests for Copies

The Court began using CM/ECF on April 7, 2003. Any document filed with the court after this date can be found on-line using PACER. (Public Access to Court Records). The PACER website has training documents to show you how to look up information. You can receive same day access by following this link: http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/register.html

The charge is 8 cents per page. (By contrast, if the Court makes a copy for you, the charge is 50 cents per page and depending on the complexity, you might be charged a search charge of $26 for a single document).

If you need a document that was filed prior to April 7, 2003, or if your case was closed before this date, you must request the document/case file through the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in Philadelphia, PA by filling out this Request Form and calling them at 215-305-2020. Alternatively, you can send the request form by e-mail, fax, or standard mail.

You will need to provide NARA with three numbers - accession(transfer) number, box number, and location number.
